Terms of use

You paid nothing; we still owe you a working app and straight answers. Here are the terms, in plain language.

1. The deal

ChorusLink is licensed to you for personal use on Apple devices you own, under Apple's standard EULA. It is free. There are no charges in this app at all: no in-app purchases, no subscription, nothing that renews. Downloading it needs an Apple Account, which Apple has its own age rules about.

2. Your settings, and what is ours

Your groups, speaker names, volumes and measurements are yours and live on your Mac. The app itself — its code, its artwork, its sounds and the maths it does — stays ours. Don't take it apart and ship the pieces, and don't repackage it or its artwork for resale.

3. Your speakers

ChorusLink drives Bluetooth speakers you already own, made by people who are not us. It plays a short calibration tick through them at a normal listening level and it can ask macOS to reconnect one that has dropped. Look after your own hearing and your own hardware: don't run calibration with a speaker against your ear, and don't hold us responsible for what someone else's firmware does when we ask it politely to reconnect.

4. What we promise

The app should work as described on the store page: it should group your speakers, measure how far behind each one is, and hold them there. If it doesn't, contact support and we'll fix it. What we cannot promise is any particular number of milliseconds, because the answer depends on your speakers, your Mac, your room and how busy the 2.4GHz band around you is. We show you every measurement we take precisely so you can see what you are getting instead of taking our word for it. Beyond that the app is provided as-is, with no guarantee that it is uninterrupted or error-free.

5. What we don't promise

We are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, a ruined dinner party or a speaker that will not behave. Our total liability is capped at what you paid us, which is nothing at all. Some places don't allow that kind of cap, and if you live in one of them, this section applies to you only as far as the law there allows.

6. Changes and termination

We may update these terms with a new effective date; continued use means acceptance. You can end the agreement any time by deleting the app, which also deletes everything it kept.

7. Apple's part in this

Downloading from the Mac App Store also puts you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which sits alongside these terms; where the two disagree about the licence itself, Apple's wins. Apple didn't make this app and isn't responsible for it, has no obligation to support it, and handles refunds rather than us. Apple may enforce these terms as a third-party beneficiary — a sentence Apple asks for, and one we are happy to include.

8. Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, where Yosika Life Quest LLC — the studio behind ChorusLink — is based, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts there. If the consumer law where you live gives you rights you can't sign away, you keep them: this section doesn't take away protections your own country or state guarantees you. We'd much rather answer an email than meet you in a courtroom over a free app about speakers.
